Remembrance Month Exhibit At Georgetown Library

We would like to thank the following modelers for participating in the Remembrance Month exhibit at the Georgetown library Oct 15 – Nov 15.

The feedback was very positive, as was last year, and we are asked to exhibit again next Fall.  To continue the interest of the public we would like to have new themes every year; let us know if you have any suggestions [2019 it would be great to feature 75th anniversary of D-Day].

Our New Home

We are happy to announce that we have found our new home.  Our meetings will be held at Philip Pocock Catholic Secondary School in Mississauga in their library.  The address is 4555 Tomken Rd, Mississauga, ON L4W 1J9.  We will be going back to our “old” schedule where our meetings will be following our schedule of September to May, and we will try to have our summer build nights in more public locations to engage the public more in the hobby.

If you’ve not been to a PSM meeting, please feel free to come out and see what we’re all about.

NOTE:  Our December meeting is being moved up to the SECOND TUESDAY in December to accomodate other scheduling due to the proximity to Christmas.

Please note PSM members and visitors, that our summer build sessions will be taking place at a new location.

We will be meeting at the Centre for Health & Safety Innovation located at 5110 Creekbank Road, Mississauga, Ontario.

We will be in Training Room 2.

Parking is in front of the centre, and you can enter through the Main Entrance

You will be required to sign in there before proceeding to Training Room 2

Training Rom 2, located in the east section of the building, can be reached by turning left from the front entrance, proceeding down the hall and turning right at the second corridor.

In Memory Of Andy Irving

We are very sad to announce the passing of past PSM member; Andrew Irving

November 7, 1931 – February 4, 2017

In Memory of Andy:

It is with great sadness that the family of Andrew ‘Andy’ Irving announces his passing on Saturday February 4, 2017 at the age of 85 years. Andy will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lois (nee Pollard) and his children David (Diana) and Catherine. He will be fondly remembered by his sister Carol Purvis (Ted) and his brother-in-law Bruce Pollard. Andy will be forever remembered by his grandchildren Ryan and Thomas, his nieces, nephews and friends.

Andy was born to Vi and Edward Irving in East York in 1931. He began his career with Bell Canada and during his time with Bell, he worked in Etobicoke, London, Saudi Arabia, Trinidad, Ottawa and Toronto.

An avid aviation enthusiast, Andy was an officer in the Canadian Air Force reserves. He also assisted in the air cadet training at Downsview and London, ON squadrons. As a hobby, Andy enjoyed the building and flying of R/C model airplanes as well as scale model building and was a member of the Peel Scale Modelers during the 1980’s.

Andy had many skills and talents. His interests included woodworking, photography, automotive restoration, sailing and reading to name but a few.

The family would like to thank the staff at Chartwell in Aurora for their assistance and care during the past few years.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that memorial donations in memory of Andy be made to the Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, 150 Kilgour Road, Toronto, ON M4G 1R8.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Ying Louie’s Presentation on Painting Clothing/Fabric

If you weren’t at our January meeting, you missed a great presentation by local modeler Ying Louie, and how he paints clothing and fabrics.  We are proud to let you view a recording of his presentation however.

Also, please click this link to be taken to our YouTube channel and subscribe, as we’ll be adding more great presentations in the future.
